Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Beauty Manake has raised P25 000 torwads purchase of a P38000 photocopying machine for Botshabelo Primary School in Selebi Phikwe.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Ms Manake was the Chief walker at Botshabelo Primary School\u2019s 6km sponsored walk on Saturday, where she commended the school for paying P15 000 deposit as a commitment towards improving academic performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have heard your grievances and felt the need to step in and help resolve the problem,\u201d she said. Ms Manake appealed to stakeholders to help resource schools, to augment resources provided by government.<\/p>\n

Chief education officer, Mr Tshwarelo Hosia thanked Ms Manake and those who lent a hand.<\/p>\n

He said Botshabelo Primary School and the rest of Selebi Phikwe primary schools were always performing outstandingly in the Primary School Leaving Examinations.<\/p>\n

Mr Hosia said similarly, junior schools always topped the national top 10 outstanding Junior schools, adding that all six junior secondary schools in Selebi Phikwe made it to the 2022 Junior Certificate Examinations Top 10.<\/p>\n

Mr Hosia attributed the outstanding performance to teachers and school heads\u2019 dedication and love for the children, adding that they worked tirelessly to ensure that they produced good results.<\/p>\n

In spite of challenges that included the closure of the BCL mine, which impacted on the socio-economic status of many families,schools continued to perform outstandingly, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are lucky to have the caliber of school leadership which can guide teachers and students towards achieving set targets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Town mayor, Mr Lucas Modimana also thanked Ms Manake for coming to the school\u2019s rescue and said, \u201cit takes a good leader to be able to mobilise resources.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having been raised in Selebi Phikwe, he said Ms Manake ploughed back to the community that raised her to be the woman she was now.<\/p>\n

Mr Modimana also emphasised team work and said mindset change called on everybody to join hands and help. He applauded the school for continuing to make the community of Botshabelo proud despite the economic hardships faced by residents.<\/p>\n
