Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Youth from various church denominations will stage Tsogo Easter Musical Theatre which will feature a narration of a play by actor Maxwell Dichi who has performed in South African soapies Muvhango and Generations.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking during a media conference recently, Dichi said the musical event was the first in the country and would be held at the Holy Cross Cathedral Anglican church yesterday.<\/p>\n

Dichi who is a member of Kingdom City Church said they would narrate the message of Easter from the time the disciples had the last supper with Jesus Christ until his resurrection.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe musical will incorporate different talents of Batswana creatives such as vocalists and producers. All those taking part in the show have auditioned for the roles,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

Dichi said the musical has brought together a team of young people connected by God and their love for the arts adding that to add cherry on top the play would take place in a church, something he said was unusual.<\/p>\n

He also said as Christians it was time for the church, especially the youth to promote what they believed in and said the play was not for entertainment only but glorifying and giving thanks for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

Music composer and also Choir Conductor Clever Batisi said the youth from church denominations including Kingdom city, UCCSA, Roman Catholic, Royal Assembly church, Twelve Apostol Church, St John and Anglican would take part.<\/p>\n

About the events of the day, he said they would have a series of songs, a mass talent choir, and a narration of the last supper and resurrection.<\/p>\n

He said the play also provided a platform for upcoming local artists such as Mphoentle Ntlhe and Thato Kefapogile to present themselves to the audience.<\/p>\n

One of the organisers, a Catholic Priest Mpho Matshediso also embraced the concept of the play and said it would help attract people back to the church.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring COVID, many mainline churches became deserted, therefore we are calling people, especially the youth back to God,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
