Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Nxaunxau, Chukumuchu, Ghani and Tsodilo primary schools have been electrified with solar energy owing to the absence of the national power grid in some areas in the Okavango constituency.<\/b><\/p>\n

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Mabuse Pule revealed this in response to a parliamentary question on Monday.<\/p>\n

Mr Pule said the sole satellite primary school in the area, being Shaikarawe would be considered for electrification in future, funds permitting.<\/p>\n

In addition, he said there was ongoing collaborative effort between the ministry and that of Health for the provision of solar power for Ghani and Chukumuchu clinics.<\/p>\n

The project, he said was expected to be completed before end of this month.<\/p>\n

Okavango Member of Parliament, Mr Kenny Kapinga had asked the minister if he was aware that there were schools and clinics in the constituency without access to electricity due to them being located far from the national grid, and if government had any urgent plans to provide solar power to such and when.<\/p>\n
