Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Departments under the Ministry for State President have been urged to always strive for better results because they existed to facilitate the Office of the President, a big institution that Batswana expects a lot from.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the just ended three-day retreat for the ministry\u2019s management in Mahalapye, Minister Kabo Morwaeng said when departments performed well or committed to deliver services diligently, it would automatically mean the President was excelling.<\/p>\n

He said the fact that the ministry facilitated the Office of the President, expectations from Batswana were that the ministry should perform better than all other ministries.<\/p>\n

For better results, Mr Morwaeng advised the leadership to thoroughly assess themselves on the set targets, introspect and strategise for the future.<\/p>\n

The minister emphasised implementation saying, often times people spent a lot of time in workshops and meetings planning and doing evaluations but seldom implemented.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoing all the introspections, planning and evaluations, without implementation one is bound to fail. Results are key, not just the talking,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said with proper strategising and implementation, the newly adopted Transitional National Development Plan was attainable.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he encouraged relevant authorities to ensure that all government projects undertaken in the transitional plan were supervised and delivered in time and within budget.<\/p>\n

Mr Morwaeng also noted that working together and supporting each other as various departments of the Ministry for State President in pursuit of public satisfaction, the minister\u2019s Performance Agreement which he signed with the President was achievable.<\/p>\n

On another issue, the minister implored State President employees to be professional and loyal to the government of the day as well as to put national interests first in service delivery.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that a professional would serve government with integrity as well as advice the leadership accordingly instead of criticising.<\/p>\n

Mr Morwaeng also encouraged employees to respect each other in the work place, regardless of rank or age.<\/p>\n

The minister also talked about disgruntled employees, advising that they should follow proper channels of complaints and continue providing services to Batswana instead of adopting the go slow attitude at work.<\/p>\n

For her part, ministry permanent secretary, Ms Goitsemang Morekisi urged managers to closely monitor overtime hours worked by subordinates because overtime weighed heavily on the wage bill.<\/p>\n

She said funds spent on overtime were a burden to the ministry because they were not budgeted for.<\/p>\n
