Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The annual Sandveld Ranchers Association field day once more, presents an opportunity for farmers to come together and share notes.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event that started thursday and ending Sunday at Gambee Ranch, Western Sandveld will be held under the theme: Sustainable Livestock Farming Amidst Economic and Environmental Challenges.<\/p>\n

Sandveld Ranchers Association chairperson, Mr Boitshoko Sekwati promised an interactive and educational field day with new additions.<\/p>\n

Focus is always on cattle but this time, small stock will be on display as well, Mr Sekwati stated in an interview.<\/p>\n

He said the last day would be auction day, a unique opportunity for livestock farmers and breeders to purchase high quality animals.<\/p>\n

Mr Sekwati said Sandveld ranchers were committed to quality and animal welfare and therefore, the gathering afforded farmers, farming enthusiasts, farming professionals, suppliers and service a chance to share opportunities and challenges that came with farming and new farming practices.<\/p>\n

The weekend event will also give association members time to interact with policy makers, to share their concerns and needs, Mr Sekwati said.<\/p>\n

Minister of Agriculture, Mr Fidelis Molao will be the guest speaker. Renowned Bonsmara farmer from South Africa, Mr Duncan Serapelwane and Beef Master Breeder, world championship winner, Mr Christiaan Lemcke will also be in attendance as well as numerous stakeholders in the farming industry.<\/p>\n

Mr Sekwati therefore, called on cattle farmers and those with interest in cattle farming especially youth, to attend and learn about the real world of cattle farming.<\/p>\n

Formed in the 1980s, Sandveld Ranchers Association is a non-profit making cattle farmer\u2019s organisation made up of members from over 200 farms in the Western Sandveld and Kaka farms as well as some communal farmers in the Central District.<\/p>\n
