Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>This year\u2019s Khawa Dune challenge did not live up to the spectators\u2019 expectations.<\/b><\/p>\n

The annual event, which is commonly known for its massive appeal, evidenced by multitudes of patrons from all walks of life, reportedly left much to be desired this year, as far as attendance is concerned.<\/p>\n

In a vox pop, some avid followers in the likes of Saduke Osupile, who said he was there for the fifth time, said this year\u2019s edition failed his thrill test.<\/p>\n

He, however, averred that the low turnout might have been fueled by other activities that were running parallel.<\/p>\n

Another follower, Dennis Mothobi implored event planners to observe the calendar of events in order to avoid clashing activities to maintain their relevance.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) public relations officer, Samuel Lephalo, said the event went as planned.<\/p>\n

Unlike the spectators, he said he was impressed by the turnout.<\/p>\n

He said the event had grown in leaps and bounds and it offered various activities, both during the day and evening, leaving patrons spoiled for choice.<\/p>\n

Lephalo, however, acknowledged that the day activities attracted a lower turnout due to the scorching heat, but the evening ones had a good share of spectators.<\/p>\n

He cited the polka and cultural festival, the 4×4 challenge as well as the music festival, as crowd pullers.<\/p>\n
