Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that President Mokgweetsi Masisi has appointed Andrew Sesinyi as Botswana\u2019s High Commissioner to Kenya.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement, the Ministry says Sesinyi brings a wealth of experience to the Foreign Service acquired from over three decades of an illustrious career in the public service, banking industry, as well as, with international media organisations such as, the African Union of Broadcasting.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn his most recent post, he served as the Permanent Secretary, Government Communications at the Office of the President (2019-2021), where he played an instrumental role overseeing Botswana\u2019s communication aspects of governance,\u201d the statement says in part.<\/p>\n

The press statement said: \u201cAs a seasoned journalist, he has gained national recognition for the contributions he has made in promoting Botswana\u2019s national development agenda story on both local and international media platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n

It further says: \u201cOther portfolios that Mr. Sesinyi has held within the public service include, Deputy Permanent Secretary \u2013 Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology; Deputy Permanent Secretary \u2013 Political Affairs; and Senior Private Secretary to the former President of the Republic of Botswana, His Excellency Dr. Festus Gontebanye Mogae.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement further states that High Commissioner-Designate Sesinyi, has \u201calso played a key role in advancing Botswana\u2019s national interests abroad during the time he served at Botswana Diplomatic Missions in Namibia (1989-1995) and in Zambia (1982-1983).\u201d<\/p>\n

Sesinyi is expected to take up his appointment in Kenya in May 2023. He takes over from High Commissioner Gobopang Duke Lefhoko who recently completed his tour of duty.<\/p>\n
