Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Leading cement manufacturer PPC Botswana has in partnership with Pilane community, pledged to build a block of three classrooms at the local primary school.<\/b><\/p>\n

A press statement from the company states that the pledge, including a donation of P100 000\u2019s worth of cement, was an effort to address the acute shortage of classrooms at Pilane Primary School.<\/p>\n

The release notes that the state of affairs had resulted in some pupils being taught in the open and others attending classes according to a shift system.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe COVID-19 pandemic and current weather conditions have exposed the seriousness of the shortage of classrooms at the school,\u201d states the release.<\/p>\n

Quoting the company\u2019s business unit head, Tuelo Botlhole, the release says education is a key driver of social and economic development hence the commitment to help create a conducive learning environment for pupils.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Mmusi Kgafela, the Member of Parliament for Mochudi West has expressed gratitude towards the development efforts of PPC Botswana, stating that communities can only grow if people unite and help each other in the development of their community,\u201d says the release.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s other contributions to Botswana\u2019s education sector include a donation of 12 desktop computers and workstations valued at P180 000 to Tlhale Primary School in the Gumare region and Mogonono Primary School which received textbooks worth P100 000.<\/p>\n
