Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Residents of Francistown West constituency have on Wednesday resolved to write a petition against the decision to divide Botsalano ward.<\/b><\/p>\n

They reached the decision during a meeting held in Tatitown customary court by Area MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane.<\/p>\n

They took turns expressing their unhappiness about the decision saying there was no prior consultation and that they wanted the decision to be reversed without delay.<\/p>\n

MP Moswaane who was also opposed to the decision told residents to present a detailed disapproval report to be presented to the Demarcation Committee scheduled to address residents of Tatitown on May 17.<\/p>\n

The committee is expected to solicit the input of residents on the demarcation exercise of political wards.<\/p>\n

\u201cNna go ya ka nna ga go a kgaoganngwa sentle go dira gore bontlha bongwe jwa Kgaolwana ya botlhophi ya Botsalano bo isiwe kwa Francistown South mme bontlha bongwe jwa sala mo Francistown West,\u201d he said stating that the re-alignment was awkward and would have a negative bearing on the development of the area.<\/p>\n

Some residents stated the decision was akin to Botsalano ward having two MPs; something they said was likely to cause confusion.<\/p>\n

Councillor for Botsalano ward, Mr Zuma Baakile called on Francistown West residents to present their opinions before the demarcation committee billed to address them next week Wednesday.<\/p>\n

His words were echoed by Tatitown ward Councillor, Mr Gaethuse Ramolotsana who said it was not going to be easy to reverse the idea; a sentiment that was shared by some residents.<\/p>\n

An ad-hoc committee comprising 10 people was thus selected to look into the matter with a view to pen a petition to present to the government on the matter.<\/p>\n
