{"id":26997,"date":"2023-05-15T11:10:05","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T11:10:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/?p=26997"},"modified":"2023-05-15T16:49:59","modified_gmt":"2023-05-15T16:49:59","slug":"botswanapost-wins-service-delivery-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/botswanapost-wins-service-delivery-award","title":{"rendered":"BOTSWANAPOST WINS SERVICE DELIVERY AWARD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>BotswanaPost recently won the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Quality of Service Fund award at the union conference in Berne, Switzerland.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>BotswanaPost was recognised alongside 14 other countries for best implemented quality of service projects by UPU Director General, Mr Masahiko Metoki, following exceptional results in improved international mail delivery service.<\/p>\n<p>According to BotswanaPost Chief Executive Officer, Mr Cornelius Ramatlhakwane the award was testament to the continued investment in the vast benefits of modern technology for business growth.<\/p>\n<p>More importantly, Mr Ramatlhakwane said, they endeavoured to contribute to positive customer experiences much needed in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>He said BotswanaPost received approximately P1.1 million from UPU\u2019s Quality of Service Fund towards the improvement of transportation and delivery of inbound mail project.<\/p>\n<p>He said the funds were also to be used for procurement of delivery equipment and capacitate BotswanaPost to ensure timely delivery of mail to customers.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ramatlhakwane said BotswanaPost subscribed to the UPU\u2019s quality management system, Global Monitoring System, which monitored mail performance against expected results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis tool was therefore used by the UPU to evaluate BotswanaPost\u2019s performance for the above-mentioned project. From the assessment, our performance has improved from an average of 14 to 71 per cent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The chief executive officer vowed continued efforts to improve the performance and significantly reduce customer complaints related to mail delivery.<\/p>\n<p>He promised customers improved quality of service as BotswanaPost continued to ramp up efforts toward this goal.<\/p>\n<p>On other issues, Mr Ramatlhakwane said BotswanaPost had staggered old age pension payment dates to avoid long queues and overcrowding every month end.<\/p>\n<p>He said they had realised that pensioners preferred accessing their payments on the last day of the month and thus forgo communicated pay dates of the 1st and 4th of each month, which resulted in Ipelegeng payments dates coinciding with those for pensioners.<\/p>\n<p>He said they had partnered with some retailers to address overcrowding, adding that they had also improved payment processes by using Biometric data which reduced time-consuming systems data capturing.<\/p>\n<p>He said they had also observed that post offices had become social gathering places for the elderly as some met to discuss metshelo, while others brought goods to sell.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\">Botswana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana.
