Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Kgatleng East MP, Mr Mabuse Pule, has stressed the importance of completing projects on time and within schedule.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking during a kgotla meeting in Modipane on Friday, Mr Pule said some services were delayed due to negligence and failure to respond to requests on time.<\/p>\n

He said what worried him most were reports about the delays in service delivery especially at the council, adding that the reset agenda as espoused by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi called on the public service to change the way they have been delivering service to the nation.<\/p>\n

He, therefore, advised public service officers to adhere to service standards in an effort to serve the nation timeously and effectively.<\/p>\n

He said public officers should always remember that they were employed to serve Batswana and should do their duties diligently, without fear and favour.<\/p>\n

Mr Pule, who is also the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, said whenever a customer visited a government office, they should be treated with respect and the dignity they deserve despite their societal class or background.<\/p>\n

Mr Pule told residents of Modipane that the long-awaited Modipane-Mabalane road would be tarred during the current financial year through the Transitional National Development Plan, adding that the budget had also been approved.<\/p>\n

He said the road would be beneficial to the villages in his constituency as it would improve the economic activity and ease movement of constituents as far as Oliphant\u2019s Drift and Malolwane.<\/p>\n

The Member of Parliament also updated residents on the laws passed during the recent Parliament session among them Transfer Duty Act, Military Veterans Act, Value Added Tax Amendment Act, Banking Act and Electoral Act among others.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Fanuel Mokalake of Modipane said construction of the Modipane-Mabalane road played a pivotal role in the economy of their constituency as it would bring development. Kgosi Mokalake asked government not to retract its decision like in the past when natural disasters took precedence over the road, arguing that it should not be delayed any further.<\/p>\n
