Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Lobatse Town Council has presented to stakeholders its 2023\/24 financial year roadmap which among others is aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the community of Lobatse.<\/b><\/p>\n

The document containing eight key performance activities was launched during a brief occasion held in Lobatse on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Presenting the document, Lobatse mayor Mr Mosimanegape Dithebe explained that the roadmap was a comprehensive plan which outlined the council\u2019s vision and strategy for the future of Lobatse.<\/p>\n

He said the roadmap was developed after extensive consultation with community members, business leaders and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am delighted to announce the launch of our town mayor\u2019s roadmap. It sets our priorities and goals for the two years of 2023 and 2024. It provides framework for the coordination of our efforts and our resources,\u201d said Mr Dithebe.<\/p>\n

He said one of the roadmap key priorities was enhancement of the quality of life for the community of Lobatse.<\/p>\n

The mayor said they aimed to achieve that objective through various initiatives including local economic empowerment, improved access to services, and improved infrastructure development and implementation.<\/p>\n

He further said another priority was promotion of sustainable development. The council, he said, would also prioritise reduction of carbon foot print and improvement of waste management in the town.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that with the support and commitment of our community and all stakeholders, we will build initial progress towards the realisation of our vision for a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive town. I am looking forward to working with you to make our vision a reality,\u201d said the mayor.<\/p>\n

The first key performance activity outlined in the roadmap is the staging of an annual business forum by the council, aimed at promotion of businesses, encouragement of entrepreneurship, and improvement of working relations between large firms and the Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in the town.The second activity is holding of an annual school children pitso to discuss issues if concern such as safety and drug use in schools.<\/p>\n

The third performance activity is quarterly information sharing through kgotla meetings to strengthen relations between council and the community, aimed at improving access to services.<\/p>\n

The fourth one is quarterly project visits by the mayor aimed at ensuring timely completion of projects.<\/p>\n

Also included in the roadmap is the quarterly \u2018Operation Clean Lobatse\u2019 aimed at promoting cleanliness of the town.<\/p>\n

Another key activity is the annual heritage walk and mountain walk aimed at promotion of Lobatse heritage sites and celebration of the rich history of the town.<\/p>\n

The seventh key activity on the roadmap is monthly revenue generation activation aimed at increasing revenue collection by council.<\/p>\n

An end of year press conference and mayor\u2019s ball aimed at communicating the council\u2019s plans, sharing progress report, challenges and any other information to the public are the last activities in the roadmap.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage everyone to work with us and help to make our town a shining example,\u201d Mr Dithebe said.<\/p>\n

Stakeholders that attended the event included government departments, parastatals, business community and council chairpersons from Kgatleng District Council and Ramotswa District Council.<\/p>\n
