Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana has donated 3 000 blankets to the Office of the President to help relieve some community members from the hardships of the winter season.<\/b><\/p>\n

The donation was received by the acting Minister for State President Mr Dumezweni Mthimkhulu on Friday who said it signified the long-existing strong bonds of friendship between Botswana and China that was based on mutual respect.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis act of kindness is a sign that there are those within our communities who want to walk a distance with government and the people of Botswana,\u201d Mr Mthimkhulu said.He assured the association that the donation would benefit the deserving members of the community.<\/p>\n

The permanent secretary in the Ministry for State President Ms Goitsemang Morekisi said it was not the first time that the association donated blankets to the Office of the President.<\/p>\n

She said the donation came at the right time when the winter season had just begun.<\/p>\n

Ms Morekisi said government alone could not afford to meet all competing needs hence she appreciated the continued support from the Chinese community.<\/p>\n

The association chairperson, Mr Chen Jianfel said it was made up of the Chinese people living in Botswana.<\/p>\n
