Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Construction of Mhiko Primary School at Losabanyana Ward in Kanye North will give surrounding community equal access to engaged learning environment which affords learners to enjoy the process of learning, leading to improved academic performance in the process.<\/b><\/p>\n

Officiating during a ground breaking ceremony hosted by Kanye District Council, area Member of Parliament Mr Thapelo Letsholo said this was a welcome development in Mhiko Ward.<\/p>\n

The ceremony came after a consultative meeting held recently where residents were briefed about the project.<\/p>\n

He said he was aware that this has been a much awaited development since the area has been without a primary school for a long time, but due to financial constraints the school could not be funded.<\/p>\n

Mr Letsholo applauded Kanye District councilors for prioritising the construction of new school in Losabanyana ward alongside other national priorities.<\/p>\n

He said the new school would give pupils, staff and the surrounding community an exciting, spacious, colourful and engaging learning environment that would allow children who have been travelling long distances to enjoy their learning.<\/p>\n

He noted that the school was the first lap and other developments would follow in the area as the residents would soon be called for the ground breaking of the stadium and the hospital.<\/p>\n

He challenged the contractors and the council project implementation team to give the project the best of their ability to ensure that the project was delivered within budget and on time, as one of the key deliverables the ministry was to deliver quality municipal infrastructure that meets all standards.<\/p>\n

Giving the project overview Kanye District Council project manager Mr Bakang Kgosiyang explained that the school facilities to be constructed at the cost of P47 796 250.67 would comprise double storey classrooms, kitchen and dining, computer and resource centre amongst others. He said the project, expected to be completed in 30 months, has been awarded to 100 percent citizen owned company, Idea Tank.<\/p>\n

Kanye District Council chairperson Mr Mpho Dithole urged the contractor to support the local economy, by employing the locals and sourcing material from local businesses.<\/p>\n

He appealed to the contractor to complete the project on time and within budget.<\/p>\n
