Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi on Monday sworn in Ms Mmako Abram as the new attorney general.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ms Abram is taking over from Advocate Abraham Keetshabe whose tenure ended on May 31. Mr Keetshabe was at the helm of the Attorney General\u2019s Chambers since 2017.<\/p>\n

At the time of her appointment, Ms Abram was the deputy attorney general, international and commercial services since December 2018 and her career experience included advising government on all legal matters.<\/p>\n

Swearing-in the new attorney general, President Masisi said Ms Abram was an experienced lawyer with a career span of 26 years in the judiciary.<\/p>\n

Ms Abram holds a Master of Law in International Trade from the University of Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n

She graduated from the University of Botswana in 1996 with a Bachelor\u2019s of Law.<\/p>\n

An experienced lawyer with broad knowledge of the international and commercial law, President said the new attorney general had among others worked on international assignments including the SADC-EU economic partnership agreement trade negotiations and the COMESA-EAC-SADC tripartite free trade agreement trade negotiations.<\/p>\n

First and foremost, President Masisi welcomed and congratulated Ms Abram for taking the position and urged her to guide the department accordingly and work diligently for the sake of Botswana.<\/p>\n

Taking the oath of office, Ms Abram promised that she would serve the government of Botswana in accordance with the laws of the country.<\/p>\n
