Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Over P11million has been disbursed by Ramotswa district council for all Ipelegeng related projects which will engage 1 393 beneficiaries.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking during a Kgotla meeting in Ramotswa Thursday the council\u2019s chairperson, Mr Zaahid Jalal said after the declaration of new districts and the report of the delimitation committee the monthly quota for Ipelegeng was reduced from 1 416 to 1 393 this financial year.<\/p>\n

He said the 2023\/24 programme was funded to implement 62 labour intensive projects and undertake minor construction and maintenance of government facilities in Ramotswa.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinor construction projects earmarked under the programme are maintenance of four classrooms at St Condrad\u2019s primary school, maintenance of teachers\u2019 quarters at Seboko primary school, maintenance of three staff houses in Magope as well as maintenance of perimeter fence at Lesetlhana primary school,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Mr Jalal said in addition to these projects, three technical projects were approved to be implemented through the Ipelegeng Skills Development Component (ISDC).<\/p>\n

The ISDC was piloted in the South East District in the 2022\/23 financial year and delivered three destitute houses in Mogobane and Otse where 53 beneficiaries graduated and were certified by CITF.<\/p>\n

Mr Jalal however said the projects under the ISDC were construction of teachers quarters at Mokgosi primary school funded under backlog eradication programme, construction of destitute house in Taung funded under destitute housing and paving of the internal road in Otse under the constituency community projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beneficiaries will be sourced from wards in which projects are implemented. The council also took an initiative to engage ISDC beneficiaries who graduated last year to construct an LA2 houses in Otse as a way of giving them experience,\u201d said Mr Jalal.<\/p>\n

He said other development projects approved were consultancy services for a detailed design for upgrading of the 25km Ramotswa internal roads.<\/p>\n
