Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will be represented by Mr Moemedi Dijeng in the upcoming Serowe West bye-elections on July 8, 2023 while Mr Onalepelo Kedikilwe will vie for the seat through the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) ticket. <\/b><\/p>\n

Botswana Congress Party (BCP) will field Mr Sebusiso Ngwenya and Mr Kefilwe Koboto will try his luck as an independent candidate.<\/p>\n

The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) has not fielded a candidate.<\/p>\n

The returning officer for Serowe West constituency, Ms Angelinah Leano said the nomination process for the vacant seat progressed well.<\/p>\n

The bye-election follows a writ of election issued by the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, last month in accordance with the electoral act.<\/p>\n

He further directed that any poll which may become necessary shall be taken on July 8, 2023.The seat was declared vacant after its former MP, Mr Tshekedi Khama failed to attend two consecutive Parliament sessions.<\/p>\n
