{"id":29535,"date":"2023-06-27T10:46:38","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T10:46:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/academic-hospital-to-improve-access-to-healthcare"},"modified":"2023-06-27T11:11:03","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T11:11:03","slug":"academic-hospital-to-improve-access-to-healthcare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/academic-hospital-to-improve-access-to-healthcare","title":{"rendered":"Academic hospital to improve access to healthcare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Francistown Academic Hospital (FHA) adds to the number of successful projects achieved through government\u2019s collaborative efforts with the private sector to achieve economic diversification, Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) managing director, Mr Cross Kgosidiile has said.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the opening of the academic hospital in Francistown recently, Mr Kgosidiile said the P49.5 million academic hospital was the first in the northern region and had already made a significant impact in the area.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised the importance of collaboration, saying it was critical to the country\u2019s economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>The academic hospital is a collaborative effort between Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, Botswana Development Corporation and Indus Healthcare with the aim to make healthcare better and accessible. The 59-bed hospital is expected to service the Botswana market and neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n<p>In that regard, Mr Kgosidiile said the hospital had registered clients as far as Zimbabwe and Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>He said BDC\u2019s commitment to investment was not only for financial gain but to deliver best services to the community.<\/p>\n<p>BITC chief executive officer Mr Keletsositse Olebile said the facility had the latest medical equipment.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the whole initiative was to align entities that founded FAH with the National Vision 2036, to develop world-class healthcare services through technology and advanced innovative healthcare delivery systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we are witnessing here today is a vision acted upon, with alignment of purpose and vision a lot can be done\u201d, said Olebile.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Olebile further stated that the private sector was stepping up to the call to work with the government and ease the burden of health care from government.<\/p>\n<p>Giving a vote of thanks, BDC board chairperson, Mr Maleho Mothibatsela explained that the completion of the academic hospital was testimony to the commitment by the leadership of Botswana to develop the healthcare sector and diversify the economy.<\/p>\n<p>He said the health sector played a crucial role in the socio-economic development of any given country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\">Botswana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana.
