Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Francistown has been very busy for the past months as it hosted more events and activities, which brought business to the formal and informal sectors.<\/b><\/p>\n

Francistown deputy Major, Mr Lesego Kwambala said this when responding to the mayor\u2019s speech during a full council meeting recently.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur city has been busy and has hosted more events and activities which have positively impacted the economy of the city,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Mr Kwambala noted that accommodation facilities were often fully booked whenever there were events in the city.<\/p>\n

On other issues, Mr Kwambala stated that Botswana Defence Force and Independence Day should be revived in Francistown as they brought vibrancy to the city and were a source of recreation.<\/p>\n

Also, he suggested that skilful people who did not possess academic qualifications should be given a chance in sectors such as construction to utilise such skills and eke a living.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are people out there who have skills but they do not have qualifications required by contractors and I suggest that we should have some practical tests so that they could prove their skills,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, most councillors complained about projects not being completed on time saying it stalled developments.<\/p>\n

They expressed their discontent about the poor state of Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital and the poor services offered at the facility.The branding of the city according to councillors was one aspect that needed to be considered.<\/p>\n

They stated that branding the city would sell the city better as visitors would know what Francistown has to offer.<\/p>\n
