Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Botswana Congress Party (BCP) MP for Maun East, Mr Goretetse Kekgonegile has described the party\u2019s Serowe West, parliamentary candidate as a well-rounded leader who can take the constituency forward.<\/b><\/p>\n

He told electorates in serowe on Sunday during launching of a candidate that voting for Mr Sebusiso Ngwenya would ensure that BCP roadmap which focused on good education system, fair wages and improved economy among other s was achieved.<\/p>\n

He said BCP believed in consultation, transparency, accountability and shunned corruption in all its facets.<\/p>\n

\u201cBotswana Congress Party stands for Botho and does not believe in attacking individual characters,\u201d said Mr Kekgonegile.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Ngwenya had served in many platforms such as as Village Development Committee (VDC), Youth Organisation of Health Services, Sports Voluntary Movement and gender committee among other areas, hence well placed to represent Serowe West constituents in Parliament.<\/p>\n

BDP and BPF candidates he said would not advance or advocate for the constituency, leaving Mr Ngwenya as the ideal man to send to Parliament. MELS Movement of Botswana president, Mr Themba Joina said BCP believed in a strong institution and not having powerful individuals.<\/p>\n

He talked about BDP failures which he said included bad roads, poor health system and dilapidated government buildings, all of which resulted from lack of prudent use of government funds. Mr Joina said the ruling party lacked foresight and had no checks and balances which had thrown the economy into disarray.<\/p>\n

Another speaker, Mr Gape Motswaledi said Mr Ngwenya was not only familiar with Serowe West Constituency, but understood its challenges and how they could be addressed. He pleaded with constituents to bring change by electing BCP in Serowe West Constituency.<\/p>\n

Mr Motswaledi said opportunities were abound in Botswana but the BDP government had failed to tap into those adding that, it was unfortunate that unemployment was a challenge yet the country was well resourced. BCP he said was a progressive party with sound programmes to elevate the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

Pleading with the electorates, Mr Ngwenya said he was not a chance taker but someone who understood all the constituencies in Serowe. If elected, he said he would bring Serowe West people together, for the good of the area.<\/p>\n

Mr Ngwenya said he would not promise the constituents anything more that what he would do because there was little time left before next year\u2019s general elections.<\/p>\n

Serowe West by-election is scheduled for July 8 and it comes after a vacancy was declared in the constituency due to former MP, Mr Tshekedi Khama\u2019s absence from two consecutive sessions of Parliament.<\/p>\n
