Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>In the race to woo the Confederation of African Football (CAF) board, Botswana has unveiled the country\u2019s official logo for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 bid.<\/b><\/p>\n

The logo is part of Botswana Bid Book to CAF and captures the country\u2019s philosophy and intended national development.<\/p>\n

It forms part of the bid book package.<\/p>\n

When unveiling the logo on Tuesday at a press conference at Lekidi Football Centre, Minister of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare said the logo not only symbolised Batswana as a nation, but also encapsulated its dreams and ambitions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe logo drew inspiration from amongst other things, one of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)\u2019s World Heritage Sites, the ever amazing Okavango Delta; the mainstay of our economy – diamonds; the sand dunes of the Kgalagadi Region; our unique arts and crafts; our agriculture and of course an element without which sport would never be exciting -the passionate Botswana fans,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n

Rakgare said that despite Botswana being pitted against Algeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with high populations, the country stood an equal chance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThankfully, population size is not amongst the key determinants, and as such, we have as equal an opportunity as any other country and\/or bloc in the continent to win the rights to host the 2027 AFCON.<\/p>\n

And like I have said in the past, we are in it to win it, \u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rakgare expressed disappointment at the level of false reporting surrounding Botswana\u2019s AFCON bid, calling for journalists to accurately and truthfully report on the bid\u2019s developments.<\/p>\n
