Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Gaborone-based side, Double Action have defended their DTC Botswana Women Football Championship after beating their rival Gaborone United 1-0 in the final played at the National Stadium on July 8.<\/b><\/p>\n

A penalty strike by Lesego Radiakanyo in the 38th minute ensured that Double Action continued their dominance in women\u2019s football following their previous league victory.<\/p>\n

Earlier on, Double Action defeated Western Dynamite 6-1 in a semi-final game played in the morning while GU booked a place in the final by beating Granada Wanderers 4-0.<\/p>\n

Although having attracted an impressive crowd, the final games did not produce much spark but in the end, Double Action found an opportunity to score to defend the title.<\/p>\n

In an post match interview, Double Action coach William Monene said it was not an easy game owing to fatigue from the semi-final game.<\/p>\n

He commended her team for defending their lead until the end of the game.<\/p>\n

Gaborone United coach, Kakale Mabechu said her charges played according to plan, adding that despite losing to Double Action, it was evident that they took the fight to the defending champions.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Double Action director Senki Sesinyi said their win had qualified them to play in the COSAFA Women\u2019s Championship League.<\/p>\n

Double Action won P250 000 and the runners up GU pocketed P150 000.<\/p>\n

Position three went to Western Dynamites after beating Granada Wanderers 3-0 in the losers final and went home with P100 000 while Granada won P50 000 for finishing on position four.<\/p>\n

Under individual prices, Radiakanyo was crowned player of the tournament and rewarded with P15 000.<\/p>\n

Top goal scorer was won by Jessica Maponga and Radiakanyo who both netted three goals in the tournament and they will share the P10 000.<\/p>\n

Gaborone United goalkeeper, Tlamelo Pheresi went home with P10 000 for winning goalkeeper of the tournament award, while Double Action coach Monene was also awarded with P10 000.<\/p>\n
