Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>It\u2019s all systems go as Botswana hosts the 15th US-Africa Business Summit at the Royal Aria Convention Centre in Tlokweng.<\/b><\/p>\n

The summit, whose official opening will be performed by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi on Wednesday 12, runs from Monday until Friday July 14.<\/p>\n

Dr Masisi will also give special opening remarks on the Presidential Plenary titled: Next Steps Towards Stronger African Health Care Capacity, Including Prevention, Detection and Treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the next four days, we will host over 1 000 delegates from the United States and Africa,\u201d Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Mmusi Kgafela, announced during a media briefing yesterday.<\/p>\n

He said Botswana was ready and proud to host some heads of state as well as high powered delegations.<\/p>\n

The minister said the summit was one of the Corporate Council on Africa\u2019s (CCA) premier annual events that offered a platform for dialogue between African heads of state, senior US and African government officials as well as sectors critical to the continent\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

Themed: Enhancing Africa\u2019s Value in Global Value Chains, Minister Kgafela said the summit resonated well with President Masisi\u2019s Reset and Reclaim Agenda, especially on value chain development.<\/p>\n

For her part, CCA chief executive officer, Ms Florie Liser, commended President Masisi for offering Botswana as the host country for this year\u2019s summit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to have partnered with the government of Botswana and we expect a major success in this year\u2019s summit that will have over 1 000 delegates, among them, a high level delegation from the United States led by America\u2019s head of development finance and cooperation as well as President Joseph Biden\u2019s senior advisor on Africa,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ms Malebogo Morakaladi, said government had made a lot of strides in preparation for the summit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ministry has been working round the clock from the day the announcement to host was made in December last year and I can assure all the stakeholders that Botswana is ready to usher in the world,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ms Morakaladi said the summit came at a time when there were heightened calls for the African continent to build its production capacities and deepen regional integration as well as pursue economic diversification.<\/p>\n

Therefore, she said, the summit provided a platform for stakeholders to play a role in being part of solutions to Africa\u2019s economic hardships.<\/p>\n
