Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Ngambao Junior Secondary School students have been challenged to make good use of an e-learning suite donated by Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC).<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the handing over of the e-learning suite worth P62 000 on Tuesday in Seronga, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology, Mr Pontsho Pusoetsile appreciated the donation from BTC.<\/p>\n

Mr Pusoetsile said the donation would help put Ngambao JSS students at par with other learners in urban areas.<\/p>\n

He said that the internet had positive and negative outcomes as such the e-learning suite was made in a way to allow child-friendly information only.<\/p>\n

On his part, the Botswana Communication Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) chief executive officer Mr Martin Mokgware encouraged Ngambao JSS students to be committed to their education to improve their academic results from the current 17 per cent pass rate.<\/p>\n

Mr Mokgware said through education the learners were assured of a better future saying smart board should motivate the learners to do better. In her remarks, North West Education regional director, Ms Veronica Mochotlhi expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that it would help improve the teachers\u2019 morale since the ministry faced challenges of retaining staff in the Okavango district due to issues of poor infrastructure among others.<\/p>\n

Ms Mochotlhi said the donation was aligned to the Ministry of Education and Skills Development\u2019s plan of incorporating e-learning.<\/p>\n

The Ngambao JSS Student Representative Council president, Mr Keith Ndura said the e-learning suite had applications which would make learning easy and interesting for students.<\/p>\n
