Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Local manufacturers have hailed the three-day local manufacturing summit, organised by Botswana Chamber of Mines and other corporate stakeholders, as a turning point for their sector\u2019s progression.<\/b><\/p>\n

The manufacturers have viewed the summit, the first of it\u2019s kind in Botswana, as an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to network, learn and collaborate for the transformation of the industry.<\/p>\n

In an interview during the ongoing summit in Gaborone, the managing director at Treselle Investment, Mr Eugene Motshelanoka said the collaborations fostered a supportive environment that enabled entrepreneurs a platform to address challenges encountered and also to work together for collective growth of the local manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an opportunity to capitalise on opportunities like supply value chain and technology innovation that will support local manufacturers\u2019 growth and visibility.<\/p>\n

Additionally, we\u2019re here to demonstrate our expertise, inventiveness, and goods to a larger audience, which will cut down on the importation of some goods from our neighbours,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mr Motshelanoka added that the summit provided a chance to comprehend some of the plans and policies that would assist manufacturers to coordinate their objectives and make the most of available resources.<\/p>\n

Treselle Investment specialises in the production of mining equipment.<\/p>\n

Ms Edith Lesole, an administration and sales marketing officer from Botscrest Holdings, a citizen-owned company that deals in production of sanitary pads said this was an opportunity to gain exposure and attract potential customers and investors that boosted the local manufacturing ecosystem.<\/p>\n

She said the market analysis from the experts enabled entrepreneurs to understand the competitive manufacturing landscape and make informed decisions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an opportunity to gain insights into the local market, have the knowledge on market trends and also to network with different stakeholders so as to adapt to changing market conditions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Marketing officer at Marvel Cut, Ms Ame Maruping said the summit was an opportunity to voice out concerns, and also engage with officials and other policy makers for endorsement and promotion of favourable policies that supported growth needed to lessen challenges of unemployment.<\/p>\n

She further said the summit was a stepping stone that revealed the need for a continuous research for informed problem-solving strategies and also to ignite competitiveness and production of quality goods.<\/p>\n
