Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Youth possess unique perspective, boundless energy and fresh ideas that position them well as key agents of change.<\/b><\/p>\n

Minister of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture, Mr Tumiso Rakgare said this during the 6th edition of the youth awards themed \u2018A season for young game changers\u2019 held over the weekend.<\/p>\n

He urged the youth to continuously embrace their unique backgrounds, perspective and experiences to break down barriers and come up with fresh ideas.<\/p>\n

He said efforts displayed by the youth as game changers in different fields, taking a leading role in development issues resonated well with aspirations of the country\u2019s national development priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese awards demonstrate a clear responsibility to ensure that the youth are inspired to contribute and play a pivotal role in the national global socio-economic development,\u201d said Minister Rakgare.<\/p>\n

Dr Lame Pusetso, scooped the award of being the best youth in creative arts, Thabiso Titas emerged as the best youth promoting culture and heritage while Pontsho Kgodisa became the best youth in promoting good health and Moemedi Kelesitse as the best youth in community voluntarism. Cedric Senna became the best youth in fashion personality, Dr Leabaneng Tawe received that of being the best in Academic Excellence, and Mompati Mbakwa emerged the best as young activist in social issues. In fields of Innovation and Technology, Kedumetse Liphi became the best.<\/p>\n

Edwin Moroka and Tebogo Letsile received the ministerial award with a cash prize of 10 000 pula each of them. Moroka was recognised for his efforts in promoting and preserving culture and Tebogo Letsile was appreciated for raising the country\u2019s flag high at international competitions in athletics.<\/p>\n

The awards, a collaboration of the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture and Remmogo Foundation intended to recognise, celebrate the excellence of the youth and encourage others to tap into availed opportunities and demonstrate their capabilities. Areas covered included community development, Sports, Creative Arts, Information Communication Technology Education, Health, Agriculture and Religion among others.<\/p>\n
