Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Botswana is set to house the headquarters of a US-based company, CTL Amedica, a move that President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has hailed as a milestone achievement that will position the country as a leader in global spine technology.<\/b><\/p>\n

Welcoming the CTL Amedica team during a courtesy call at his office recently, President Masisi said he was pleased that the previous interactions with CTL Amedica in an endeavour to lure foreign investors had resulted in the company re-routing to Botswana.<\/p>\n

The President said housing the CTL Africa headquarters would also position Botswana as a health tourism hub and undoubtedly improve socio-economic development and the livelihoods of Batswana.<\/p>\n

Again, he said the company\u2019s re-routing spoke volumes in Botswana\u2019s drive to transform into a knowledge-based economy through skills transfer.<\/p>\n

Thus, he implored the public service to embrace investors coming into the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe public service needs to be at the forefront and embrace the move by investors to set up in the country and create an ecosystem for such businesses to thrive, thus positioning Botswana as the most rewarding place to be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, President Masisi commended the company for considering Botswana as its investment destination of choice.<\/p>\n

For his part, CTL Amedica president, Dr Rocky Moncho applauded President Masisi for remaining steadfast in promoting Botswana\u2019s interests worldwide and advocating the country as a haven for foreign investors.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Masisi\u2019s visionary leadership and efforts to attract Foreign Direct Investment are bearing fruit as evidenced by our company\u2019s desire to establish its headquarters in Botswana,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dr Moncho said by establishing the headquarters in Botswana, CTL Amedica aimed to become the global provider of innovation, manufacturing and distribution in medical technology with patient care at the forefront.<\/p>\n

He was optimistic that Botswana would become the model nation and a travel destination for spinal surgical care in Africa and the centre for healing and further become a leader in spine surgery and medical device manufacturer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hopeful that the facilities will host cutting edge neurosurgical and spine conference and establish an annual conference in line with government\u2019s desire to transform into a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events Hub,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The annual conference, he said would gain hundreds of visitors and eventually grow to stimulate the local economy through hospitality, entertainment, food and beverage, tourism and increase in local businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cHundreds of new jobs will be created in the first year with new economic stimulation from the effects of CTL Africa with other jobs being created due to ripple effect in the economy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
