Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Two weeks have passed since the University of Botswana (UB) Student Representative Council (SRC) were slapped with emergency suspension and they are set to continue endure more time of their suspension as they are yet to appear before the disciplinary committee.<\/b><\/p>\n

In an interview the SRC president Maatla Magibisela revealed that they are yet to hear from the university regarding the latest developments around their suspension. The SRC president however, stated that they expect the university management to set the date for hearing not later than today.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still serving our suspension while we await to be invited for a hearing and we are hoping to get an invite today from the university management,\u201d Magibisela said<\/p>\n

The SRC president however, highlighted that the university has served them with their charges. \u201cWe have since received the charge sheet from the management, \u201c he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the response the SRC president was looking forward to from the management is not what they were expecting. From the UB management \u2018s response, it seems the SRC would have to wait a little longer for them to appear before the disciplinary committee.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of the student code of conduct ,members of the SRC were suspended and shall be taken through a disciplinary process in due course,\u201d reads the statement from the UB.<\/p>\n

UB\u2019s statement on the SRC suggests that the hearing date has not yet been set and the SRC is expected to continue serving their suspension while they continue to be left behind with their academics.<\/p>\n

SRC\u2019s suspension came after they disrupted learning process at UB forcing their fellow students to boycott classes and went to an extent of locking learning premises.<\/p>\n
