Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Women in different economic sectors have been urged to collaborate as a way to reduce their under-representation in business.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was said by Vice Chairperson of Botswana Women in Construction (BOWICO), Ms Renee Yezo, during the Women in Built Environment Conference in Gaborone this week.<\/p>\n

Ms Yezo said the construction sector presented unique challenges because it had long been male-dominated and the number of women is always limited at all levels.<\/p>\n

She said this underscored the need for women to support one another so as to have more women representations in all male-dominated sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen need to recognise the strength of other women and using such to build partnerships that will work to strengthen and empower them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In a panel discussion at the event, an Investment and Development Financial Expert, Ms Katso Gaobakwe, emphasised the importance of building partnerships with parties that align with one\u2019s goals and values.<\/p>\n

She advised women in business to interrogate the business partners they wish to work with to avoid any possible disasters and business threats.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs partners, a win-win setup contract plan must be put in place so that in the end all parties are satisfied and eager to put in all efforts needed to keep sailing,\u201dshe said. \u201cAs women we need to work hard in maintaining such contracts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Project Management Export, Ms Chabo Mbikiwa, said there was need to foster an environment where women are appreciated and given an opportunity to flourish to their best capabilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI implore all women to not only network but go for international market opportunities that are often not explored,\u201d she added. \u201cWe need to take a leap of faith even when starting small.\u201d<\/p>\n
