Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Kgosi Kealetile Moremi\u2019s achievements during her time at the helm of Batawana bogosi speak highly of her as a leader of repute who led her people in an era of developments.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at her appreciation ceremony organized by a group of women who calls themselves Bomme ba goo Tawana on Saturday, the First Lady Ms Neo Masisi applauded Kgosi Moremi for being an excellent leader and said she managed to lead in a way that united the community during the 20 years period as Batawana Regent.<\/p>\n

\u201cKgosi Moremi excelled at her position during her time and she even served as member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi.<\/p>\n

As such her service should be a historical achievement in gender equality,\u201d she said. She observed that leadership required someone with unique qualities.<\/p>\n

She said for women, it was a challenge since women were faced with stereotypes and had only a few women role models in leadership positions to look up to.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Mabuse Pule commended Kgosi Kealetile for her service as Batawana Regent and observed that leadership required someone with special qualities to unite people.<\/p>\n

She said Kgosi Kealetile\u2019s leadership qualities should be exemplary to other tribes that women were capable of leading since government supported gender equality.<\/p>\n

Mr Pule also appreciated her for the smooth handing over of the Batawana Bogosi to her brother Kgosi Tawana II.<\/p>\n

He said that was a commendable act that showed that Batawana were a peaceful tribe.<\/p>\n

The assistant minister observed that some places were rife with conflicts associated with the Bogosi throne in Botswana and other parts of Africa.<\/p>\n

As such, he said the Bogosi Act was under review as it seemed to have some loopholes.<\/p>\n

In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Tawana II said the day was meant to appreciate Kgosi Moremi who led the Batawana for 20 years on his behalf.<\/p>\n

In her remarks, Kgosi Moremi said she was thankful for the accolades from the different speakers. She observed that bogosi was not an easy task and she thanked the Batawana for their support during her tenure.<\/p>\n
