Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Mmathubudukwane residents have been implored to embrace the envisaged developments in their village.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was said by MP for Mochudi East, Mr Mabuse Pule, when addressing a kgotla meeting Friday.<\/p>\n

He said following the declaration that their village was a sub district, they should make a paradigm shift in the way they had been conducting business to accommodate new developments.<\/p>\n

He said it was important to tap into and benefit from the developments that would come along with projects earmarked for their village.<\/p>\n

Mr Pule said the Botswana Power Corporation\u2019s (BPC)connection of electricity to the river villages, which would be complete in November 2023 and the 25km street lights in the sub district and drainage systems were some of the projects that addressed their needs and should be embraced.<\/p>\n

He raised concern about the escalating copper cable theft that was costing BPC millions and urged residents to guard against the theft.<\/p>\n

He said the theft disrupted the quality of services provided by the corporation.<\/p>\n

He said community cooperation with project contractors would bridge the gap and open job opportunities for residents.<\/p>\n

He said following the declaration of drought throughout the country, different agricultural feeds would be subsidised by 30 per cent.<\/p>\n

He added that malnourished children would continue to be fed to ease the drought impact on communities.<\/p>\n

Mr Pule told the residents about the 16 laws passed during the just-ended Parliament meeting. He talked about the Mental Health Act and the Botswana Trade Commission Act<\/p>\n

Kgosi Thari Balebetse of Mmathubudukwane urged residents, especially the youth, to enrol and use programmes brought by government.<\/p>\n

He said the free Internet connectivity in dikgotla should not be abused but put to good use.<\/p>\n

He applauded government for developments and urged residents to continue to ensure developments were a success.<\/p>\n
