Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Botswana\u2019s Partly Cloudy and Hot film recently became Academy Award Oscar qualifying after its Atlanta Georgia screening.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is the second time that a Botswana film becomes Oscar-qualifying after 2064 in which Donald Molosi starred opposite Thabo Rametsi in 2018.<\/p>\n

Being Oscar qualifying means that a film has been placed in the running for an Oscar nomination by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo honour the contributions of such top filmmaking, the Oscar qualifying festival is held to create networks among top contenders for this year\u2019s Oscar nomination,\u201d said executive producer of Partly Cloudy and Hot, Molosi in an interview.<\/p>\n

Molosi explained that Partly Cloudy and Hot was screened as a representative of excellence in global filmmaking at an Oscar qualifying festival in Atlanta, Georgia.<\/p>\n

To be considered for Oscar qualifying screening, a film has to be of particular quality, and have all elements of the story coming well together.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Partly Cloudy and Hot wins an award at this Oscar qualifying festival, we will automatically get an Oscar nomination,\u201d Molosi stated.<\/p>\n

Molosi expressed his excitement and gratitude at how Partly Cloudy and Hot had made history and its achievements thus far.<\/p>\n

Molosi said Partly Cloudy and Hot had been able to screen in countries where it had hosts to sponsor a premier, and appealed for sponsors in Botswana to be able to screen the film home.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur sponsorship requests have not been fruitful thus far and we request a sponsorship to premier in Botswana,\u201d Molosi humbly appealed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kaone Kario, who plays lead role of Sara in Partly Cloudy and Hot, has earned her second Best Actress nomination in Canada at the seventh edition of Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) awards to be held on September 23.<\/p>\n

Kario is up against Nollywood giants such as Sola Sobowale and Omotola Jalada-Ekeinde.<\/p>\n

Also, her co-lead Zenzo Ngqobe, a South African actor also earned himself Best Actor nomination.<\/p>\n
