Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Xere Community Trust and stakeholders will on Friday and Saturday next week host their first cultural festival.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at a press briefing in Gaborone on Tuesday, Kgosi Molaodi Moipolai of Xere said the event was aimed at celebrating and revealling the Basarwa cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Moipolai noted that their village was established in 2002 and that the trust was established shortly afterwards in efforts to help the youth in the village to find employment.<\/p>\n

He said the festival would help create jobs for the youth in his village as they would be performing and showcasing their talent to the world.<\/p>\n

The event organiser, Rapula Kegopilwe said they would start on Friday where the first arrivals would be \u2018chasing the sunset\u2019.<\/p>\n

He said there would be game drives from 5am on Saturday followed by adventures on animal tracking.<\/p>\n

He said expert trackers had been assembled to teach attendees how to track animals and how to tell if the animals were close or had long passed through the area.<\/p>\n

He further explained that on Saturday evening there would be a cultural exhibition where Basarwa culture would be illuminated from their healing practises to their song and dance.<\/p>\n

He added that their traditional groups would perform on Saturday for three hours.<\/p>\n

The face of Xere, Nkhumisang Lesheto said from the profits of the festival three people with disabilities would be funded to start projects that would help them to be financially stabile.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the festival are available at Webtickets.co.bw and they range from P100 without accommodation and additional funds for the game drives.<\/p>\n

There is also a P450 ticket without accommodation, but with campsite facilities.<\/p>\n

The golden tickets are P5 500 and P8 500 and they include the whole package.<\/p>\n
