Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi has urged residents of Somerset West, Boikhutso ward to draft wills as they are important legal documents which specify how one wants their property and belongings to be distributed after they die.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr Mmolotsi stated with great concern that children within the community when left with property are fond of selling it, which later leads to them being destitute or causes conflicts amongst them.<\/p>\n

He said this during a kgotla meeting in Boikhutso Park on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Member of Parliament invited residents to his office to draft wills for free, rather than having to pay P3500.00 for the service.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will be waiting for you in my office in Block 5 on September 13 at 9am\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The Ward Development Committee Chairperson of Boikhutso Ward, Ms Beauty Sonny stated that the constituency office\u2019s intervention is a welcome development.<\/p>\n

She relayed that WDC offices were always packed with people fighting over property, mostly siblings.<\/p>\n

\u201cHomesteads which are sold people who then rent them to hostels criminals or illegal immigrants at a cheaper price,\u201d said Ms Sonny.<\/p>\n

Assistant Superintendent, Alice Oabile of Kutlwano Police Station confirmed that it is indeed true that there are illegal immigrants residing within Somerset West.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of them are responsible for the ongoing criminal activities within the city, such as illegal mining\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n

Assistant Superintendent Oabile cautioned residents to refrain from accommodating illegal immigrants, as this is a crime for which one could be fined P5000.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not saying we can\u2019t live with foreigners, let them come into the country legally\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n

Residents of Somerset West, he said should report criminal acts to authorities and foster a conducive environment in which to raise well-rounded children.<\/p>\n
