{"id":34828,"date":"2023-09-20T14:05:30","date_gmt":"2023-09-20T14:05:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/?p=34828"},"modified":"2023-09-20T13:56:54","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T13:56:54","slug":"st-john-treats-revellers-to-clap-n-tap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/st-john-treats-revellers-to-clap-n-tap","title":{"rendered":"St John treats revellers to clap &#8216;n tap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Clap &#8216;n Tap gospel music enthusiasts were recently treated to a fun-filled night at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) multi-purpose hall in Palapye.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The concert which was hosted by St John Metsimotlhabe Church Choir featured Barorisi ba Morena from South Africa, Bagaka ba Tumelo gospel choir from Serowe and BIUST Clap &#8216;n Tap gospel choir.<\/p>\n<p>Clap &#8216;n Tap is characterised by hand clapping and foot stomping rhythms. It is associated with religious music and commonly performed in churches.<\/p>\n<p>St John Metsimotlhabe spokesperson, Lorato Barakanye, said the intention was to show youth in Central region that Clap &#8216;n Tap could have diverse benefits.<\/p>\n<p>She said the church used music to reach out to communities, adding that it was easy to spread message through song and dance<\/p>\n<p>The rise in social ills, she said, negatively affected communities across all socio- demographics.<\/p>\n<p>Barakanye said St John Metsimotlhabe church choir comprised 50 choristers aged between 15- 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of Staff, Boyce Sebetela, encouraged churches to rally behind President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi\u2019s mindset change initiative.<\/p>\n<p>He urged churches to adopt a new way of doing things to make Botswana a better place for all.<\/p>\n<p>Sebetela pleaded with them to take advantage of the historical sites and natural resources in Palapye and Tswapong area to improve their lives.<\/p>\n<p>Kgosi Gasebalwe Seretse of Pilikwe commended St John for embracing the youth.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was important for the youth to be firmly rooted in Christ, adding church leadership should give spiritual guidance to young people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\">Botswana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana.
