Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>With only a week left to conclude the Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) Cup, Mascom has stepped on board and offered the federation a sponsorship of P50 000.00 to host the cup.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mascom says its sponsorship reflects its dedication to the development of sports in the community and the growth of volleyball.<\/p>\n

The company says the volleyball cup rekindles its relationship which began in 2018. It says it is testament for its purpose of \u201cpowering connections that inspire change\u201d by reigniting the passion and enthusiasm that surrounds volleyball.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the sponsorship, Mascom chief executive officer Ms Dzene Makhwade Seboni said: \u201cMascom is committed to sports development and fostering a culture of excellence, we invest in initiatives that contribute to the overall well-being and development of our community. Volleyball embodies the values of teamwork, determination, and perseverance that resonate with our company ethos.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSports play an integral role in fostering a healthy and active lifestyle, promoting personal growth, and building character. We believe that sport is a catalyst for positive change, bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging. Through our continued support for sports development in Botswana, we hope to inspire a generation of athletes, promote healthy competition, and create lasting memories for all involved,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

For her part, the BVF President, Tsoseletso Magang said the four-week cup was established as an initiative activity as volleyball had been inactive since the Liquid Cup games end of last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe approached mascom to sponsor the Cup but they could only assist with not more than P50 000.00 for us to at least run the logistics of the cup. We understand that Covid-19 has affected businesses income but we are thankful and hopefully next year they will be in a better position to consider a full sponsorship of the cup,\u201d Magang explained.<\/p>\n

She confirmed that the federation put in P150 000 to run the tournament and support the teams, citing that even though the financials are minimal, it was crucial to at least have an activity running in the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have awarding weekly mobilisation fees to excelling clubs from both men and women. We trust that they will use activities like this to source financial supporters as well for their teams,\u201d added Magang.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Volleyball Cup finals are scheduled for Saturday 30th September 2023 at the Sir Seretse khama Barracks (SSKB) where a winner by best of five sets, for both men and women, will win the trophy.<\/p>\n

As for the BVF league, Magang indicated that they are still engaging potential league sponsors. Their hope and desire is to have the league return in the year 2024.<\/p>\n
