Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Moleko family following the passing on of Mr Lekena Moleko.<\/b><\/p>\n

The President described Mr Moleko as a childhood friend who was always reverent and humble.<\/p>\n

During a solemn funeral ceremony filled with dirges and personal tributes at Phomolong yesterday, President Masisi reminisced about his encounters with the deceased, which dated back to their secondary school days.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shared many fond memories during our adolescence times at Maru-a-Pula secondary school. Mr Moleko was a lively character and exceptionally talented in football and athletics which made him popular among his peers,\u2019\u2019 President Masisi said.<\/p>\n

He said the deceased remained a loyal friend from childhood days, and it was not a surprise that their friendship endured throughout the years until his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of Mr Moleko\u2019s strong attribute was his loyalty to friendship and it was very seldom of him to miss any former school mates\u2019 reunion activity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

President Masisi acknowledged that no words could alleviate the deep sorrow they were feeling, it was important for them to know that they were in the company of caring people who kept them in their prayers at all times.<\/p>\n

He urged the Moleko family and friends to remain steadfast in their faith during their time of bereavement.<\/p>\n

He encouraged them not to lose hope but should draw comfort from Setswana tradition of coming together and supporting those grieving the loss of their loved one.<\/p>\n

Mr Thobo Moleko, speaking on behalf of the family expressed gratitude for the President\u2019s consoling words of sympathy noting that they brought much-needed comfort and solace.<\/p>\n

Born in June 6, 1960 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mr Moleko died on September 21 after a long illness.<\/p>\n
