Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Police in Letlhakane are investigating a stock theft case at Letlhakane, Phase 1 where two men were caught \u2018ba koba koba dikgomo tsa batho\u2019 (corralling other people\u2019s cattle).<\/b><\/p>\n

This comes after a string of stock theft incidents which has been rocking the country recently.<\/p>\n

Confirming details to Mmegi Online, station commander of Letlhakane Michael Maphephu stated that on October 8, 2023 they apprehended three people while three other suspects are on the loose following reports from community members.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Sunday we received a report that people are attempting to marshal people\u2019s cattle and immediately we rushed to the scene where we arrested two male figures aged 39 and 48 who were corralling cattle,\u201d Maphephu said.<\/p>\n

During their investigations, Maphephu added that they also found the culprits in possession of weed. Maphephu stated that weed found in the possession of the suspects amounted to 100 grams.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that when trying to ascertain where the weed comes from the two men pointed them in the direction of a 40 year woman who the police ended up apprehending. \u201cIn our investigations, we followed up on the information and found a 40-year-old woman in possession of weed and stolen meat in the fridge amounting to a full carcass,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n

The station commander denoted that all the suspects in the matter were charged with possession of weed and stock theft. He however highlighted that the accused have since been granted bail by the Magistrate Court. Maphephu appealed to members of the public to help them look for three other suspects so that they may face the wrath of the law. He further stated that people should make sure that their livestock is safe at all times.<\/p>\n
