Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The National Basketball Team\u2019s Fotius Ngaiza has joined the Botswana basketball giants, Dolphins, as a professional player.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ngaiza, a Vijana City Bulls Basketball Club of Dar es Salaam, headed to Botswana on Thursday to join the Dolphins for his first professional career.<\/p>\n

Coach Bahati Mgunda, who is a Junior NBA Coordinator at the Jakaya M. Kikwete Youth Park of Dar es Salaam, commended the move for Ngaiza.<\/p>\n

Mgunda told the \u2018Sunday News\u2019: \u201cIt is a good move for Ngaiza to play at the prestigious African League; it is an ideal platform.<\/p>\n

They are at different zones, so he is going to develop there.\u201d \u201cNgaiza is a skillful player, I have known him from his junior level and he still has room to continue growing. I think he is on the right path and capable to draw a challenge in the league.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dolphins team is placed in Group D that also consists of Bravehearts Basketball (Malawi), Munali Suns Basketball Club (Zambia), JBC Basketball Club (Zimbabwe) and UNAM Wolves of Namibia for the Road to BAL first qualifying round.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old player has become a pillar in the national team at the moment, his move opened the door for other youths who have a desire to excel in the game to follow in his footsteps.<\/p>\n

Ngaiza has been one of the star players at Vijana City Bulls in the Dar es Salaam Basketball League (BDL) and his efforts have now paid off.<\/p>\n

Mgunda insisted that Ngaiza landed the opportunity due to his discipline, hardworking and determination to go further in the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Dolphins team was looking for a player with certain qualities, after sending them Ngaiza clips, they were happy with him so they decided to give the contract to strengthen their team ready for the BAL battle,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an important opportunity for him as a player and for the nation in general because of his participation in the competition with top players,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the level he showed in the national team during the recent Afcon Championship has increased his reputation and the opportunity to be taken by the Dolphins.<\/p>\n
