Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Bakwena have expressed gratitude for the development projects, both ongoing and those earmarked for Molepolole during a kgotla meeting addressed by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi in Molepolole on Friday.<\/b><\/p>\n

With the Gamononyane \u2013 Molepolole water pipeline and related works having been completed, the dry tap situation is scheduled to end next month once tests and disinfections are done.<\/p>\n

Other projects are the construction of kgotla offices, which is expected to be completed in February next year.<\/p>\n

The residents welcomed the traffic lights at various junctions in the village, the planned 12 kilometre Molepolole by-pass, internal roads, construction of two police stations as well as two primary schools.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the meeting, a resident Mr Edwin Bogopa said the call for mindset change would empower Batswana economically and also said he was grateful for SmartBots programme to be launched soon by the President.<\/p>\n

Mr Nonofo Motsumi said the ETSSP programme was a welcomed initiative as it offered multiple pathways enabling students who did not do well in their Junior Certificate Examinations to continue with their education.<\/p>\n

Ms Kerapetse Segolame complained that the introduction of pre-primary or reception classes in public primary schools had negatively affected pre-school businesses and called upon government to reconsider the programme.<\/p>\n

Mr Handsome Noel decried unfair practices by wholesalers who also run liquor bottle stores, saying they disadvantaged bar owners with their low prices.<\/p>\n

Another resident called for the reduction of retirement age to 50, to which the President said it was impossible as government would lose a skilled workforce.<\/p>\n

He further said government was aware of unfair practices by liquor wholesalers and bottle stores, majority of which were run by foreigners. In response and President Masisi said government was working on finding a solution to such a problem.<\/p>\n

In his vote of thanks, MP for Molepolole South, Mr Kabo Morwaeng thanked the President for the developments including the newly completed museum, which he said was the biggest in the country.<\/p>\n

He said the envisaged by-pass and internal roads would help ease traffic congestion, especially along the Gaborone-Molepolole road.<\/p>\n

Mr Morwaeng, who is also the Minister for State President, said the construction of two additional police station would bring the total number to three.<\/p>\n
