Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Botswana Premier league champions, Jwaneng Galaxy, expect to be financially challenged when they play in the CAF champions\u2019 league group stages. <\/b><\/p>\n

It will be Galaxy\u2019s second appearance in the continental championship group stages. Faced with the taxing financial demands, Galaxy\u2019s public relations officer, Tankiso Morake, has appealed to the business community for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cCompeting in CAF championships league is expensive. Reaching group stages is even more expensive and challenging because of the number of games one has to play,\u201d Morake said.<\/p>\n

As such, he says the team will need allies to cover on various costs which come with competing in CAF. \u201cWe need mutual allies who will also benefit from partnering with the team. Galaxy will be travelling across Africa and by partnering with us, companies stand to benefit because we will be spreading their visibility and expose them to more potential business associates,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

He says they will soon launch a charm offensive to lure companies to support the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to stage a stakeholder\u2019s engagement session where companies will be invited under one roof to explain to them the need to partner with Galaxy and what they stand to benefit. The rewards in partnering with the team are many. Companies stand to increase their visibility and a chance to go international,\u201d he explained. Morake went on to add that \u2018they will not only rely on companies that are in Jwaneng but cross country.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy spokesperson said the team needs more partners because they want to go far in the tournament.<\/p>\n

Morake said the Jwaneng based outfit has shown consistency in both the league and CAF participation hence reaching the group stages.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe reached the Group stages out of hard work. We are in the group stage not to add numbers but compete and make a mark. We are targeting the quarter finals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Galaxy is drawn in Group B with Group B Wydad AC (Morocco), Simba SC (Tanzania) and ASEC Mimosas (Cote d Ivoire).<\/p>\n
