Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Spiritual Healing Church youth members in Lobatse showed their compassionate and caring spirit by donating hundreds of toiletries to Lobatse Senior Secondary School pupils, patients and prison inmates on October 21.<\/b><\/p>\n

In the company of church elders, the youth choir visited the school, Athlone Hospital, Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital and Lobatse Prison to hand the donations, share words of encouragement and pray for them.<\/p>\n

The church\u2019s leader, Rev. Cassim Tshoganetso, explained that the gesture came out of the realization that some of the boarding students, patients admitted to hospitals and inmates were far from their families hence they needed assistance with basic needs. Rev. Tshoganetso said they decided to help by donating toiletries, which were bought through contributions from the choir members.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the handing of toiletries at the school, Rev. Tshoganetso said lack of basic needs could affect the performance of children in their studies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are times when boarding pupils run out of toiletries and other basic needs while their families are not around to help them,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen it happens this can have a negative impact on their studies.\u201d<\/p>\n

He encouraged the students to work hard in their studies and not be discouraged by the challenges they faced in life.<\/p>\n

Giving a word of encouragement to students, a preacher at the church Mr Dube Chienda, asked them to obey God and listen to advice and guidance from their teachers and parents. Mr<\/p>\n

Chienda told them that obedient children usually prospered in life, while disobedient one usually failed to achieve any success.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot listening to your teachers and doing wrong things can have negative consequences, while doing the right things will help you to be successful at school and in your lives,\u201d he advised the students.<\/p>\n

Guidance and Counselling Senior Teacher at Lobatse Senior Secondary School, Mr Onkabetse Mangwa, welcomed the gesture from the Spiritual Healing Church choir and said it came at the right time when some leaners were preparing to write their final examination.<\/p>\n

Mr Mangwa said the words of encouragement would motivate those students ahead of the examinations. He said the toiletries would go a long way in assisting boarding students who usually ran out of toiletries with their parents far away.<\/p>\n

He explained that they had about 340 boarding learners. He said the school had a total enrolment of just over 1 400 pupils.<\/p>\n

The items donated included tooth brushes, lotions, washing powders, bath soaps, bath towels, deodorants, toilet papers and sanitary towels.<\/p>\n
