Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Individuals have a responsibility to stay informed about the changes that have occurred as a result of the delimitation process, says Vice President, Slumber Tsogwane.<\/b><\/p>\n

Addressing a kgotla meeting in Xere and Khumaga on October 30, he said doing so would help them to know the polling district boundaries, which guided them to register at the right place and avoid voter trafficking.<\/p>\n

He said the the 2022 Population Census and Household Survey registered an increase in population, which necessitated an increase of polling districts.<\/p>\n

Mr Tsogwane informed residents of the two villages that that there would be some changes in the 2024 elections in polling districts, polling stations and constituencies.<\/p>\n

He said the number of constituencies would increase from 57 to 61, polling districts 490 to 609, whilst polling stations increased from 2 258 to 2 802.<\/p>\n

In Khumaga, Mr Bogoman Kgosiemang expressed concern that political candidates were not well informed on issues regarding the electoral act and election policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen an electorate request for an electoral act, which, he said should accessible to the public, a politician will instead share party manifesto.<\/p>\n

Residents were also informed that Batswana were free to register at their place of residence, whether it is a place of work, business or work.<\/p>\n
