{"id":38268,"date":"2023-11-11T18:47:58","date_gmt":"2023-11-11T18:47:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/?p=38268"},"modified":"2023-11-11T17:52:47","modified_gmt":"2023-11-11T17:52:47","slug":"dikgotla-not-aligned-to-constituencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/dikgotla-not-aligned-to-constituencies","title":{"rendered":"DIKGOTLA NOT ALIGNED TO CONSTITUENCIES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Dikgotla across the country are not aligned to the constituency boundaries, and the five dikgotla in Gaborone are adequate enough to deal with the work load.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Answering a question in Parliament, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele said as such residents of Gaborone Central had to travel beyond the boundaries of the constituency to access kgotla services.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Modukanele indicated that Gaborone Central constituency fell within the jurisdiction of Urban and Broadhurst customary courts, both of which were commutable to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will, however, advice the Gaborone City Council to consider the inclusion of the establishment of a kgotla facility at Gaborone Central following the normal planning and budgeting system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Modukanele said so far there were 463 dikgotla in the country, excluding customary courts of appeal North and South.
