Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Assemblies of God Women\u2019s wing has been commended for donating sanitary pads, clothing for new born babies, a couch and blood pressure monitoring machine to Selebi Phikwe hospital.<\/b><\/p>\n

The donation which was received by Minister of Health, Dr Edwin Dikoloti on behalf of the hospital is in line with the women ministry\u2019s objective of being a blessing to their families, communities and the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis gesture of love and kindness is a fabric that holds our nation together,\u201d said Dr Dikoloti after receiving the gifts in Selebi Phikwe on Saturday.<\/p>\n

He said government was aware that in the past, Assemblies of God church built houses for the needy and bought medical equipment for the physically challenged.<\/p>\n

\u201cI rise to receive such gifts on behalf of our people as a matter of principle and give you assurance that our trusted government through my ministry will ensure that that the gifts reach the intended beneficiaries,\u201d he said and urged the recipients to receive the gifts as a token of love and blessings from the church.<\/p>\n

Dr Dikoloti encouraged the nation to learn to carry other people\u2019s burden and support one another just like their fore-fathers did in the past.<\/p>\n

The minister also explained that Assemblies of God was one of the major Pentecostal churches in the country which had played an integral part in nation building and promotion of moral wellbeing.<\/p>\n

He said the nation needed a fresh call to the revival of fire that would renew their hope and burn the wickedness so that ‘we become a great nation.’<\/p>\n

Dr Dikoloti thanked the church and encouraged them to always find meaningful ways of integrating the Mindset Change agenda.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Ministry in Assemblies of God church president, Ms Tsholofelo Radimo said that the donation was made possible by their partnership with Assemblies of God Women\u2019s ministry in Arizona.<\/p>\n

She thanked the Arizona ministry for extending a helping hand to Batswana, and pledged to do the same in Arizona.<\/p>\n

Ms Radimo said the church\u2019s Women\u2019s Ministry which celebrated the 60th anniversary this year, intended to remain relevant to its mandate by ploughing back to respective communities where the church held the women\u2019s conference hence a donation to Selebi Phikwe hospital.<\/p>\n

She explained that research had shown that some women died from preventable diseases such as hypertension therefore, the blood pressure monitoring machine would enable health workers to monitor and track the blood pressure of expectant mothers, to avoid such unfortunate occurrences.<\/p>\n

She said the sanitary pads would also help women during maternity whilst the newly born babies clothes would help babies adapt to the new environment.<\/p>\n

Assemblies of God Church leader, Bishop Moratiwa Tshukudu also thanked the congregation for touching many lives.<\/p>\n

Apart from spreading the gospel, he said, the church should go an extra mile to assist society where the was need.<\/p>\n

Bishop Tshukudu also thanked Dr Dikoloti and government for recognising the role of the church and always considering the church in decision making.<\/p>\n
