Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Teachers in the Southern region have been urged to enhance learning by working smart to transform the performance of learners, as the strength of achievement was rooted in the depth of one\u2019s passion.<\/b><\/p>\n

Member of Parliament for Kanye South, Dr Lemogang Kwape said during South Region Excellence awards ceremony themed Positive Mindset: A Quest to Excellence in Kanye on Friday that \u2018 the difference between a successful person and others is not lack of strength, nor lack of knowledge, but lack of will,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dr Kwape highlighted that the ceremony carried a lot of significance, especially as awardees utilised the limited resources available, maximised them and ensured that they achieved optimal results.<\/p>\n

Government, he said, recognised the need for the nation to be educated and informed as enshrined in Vision 2016 and 2036 pillar of Achieving Prosperity for All.<\/p>\n

He further congratulated awardees for unwavering commitment to outstanding performance and urged them to keep up the good work.<\/p>\n

Director of regional operations, Mr Acronews Maseko said due to logistical and finance challenges, they were skeptical about hosting the event, but the desire to win, to motivate staff and having confidence in stakeholders and sponsors prevailed.<\/p>\n

However, he said the region had not reached its full potential academically, adding that they believed the sky was the limit.<\/p>\n

The region, he said, prides its self with committed stakeholders and hardworking staff, hence they hoped for good things to happen in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain hopeful that our teaching strategies, especially pupils Academic Empowerment Strategies would be fruitful and bring us better results,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He underscored that the region was doing more with the little resources in various projects such as expanding hostels in boarding schools.<\/p>\n

Mr Maseko said the event\u2019s theme resonated well with President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi\u2019s Transformation Agenda and Mindset Change.<\/p>\n

BOSETU regional chairperson, Mr Tlhakoyapele Motiki appreciated teachers for the good work they had done and continued to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cAppreciating teachers for the good work will ensure that they are motivated to perform beyond expectation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the idea was for teachers to feel more connected to the region\u2019s vision and values, hence increasing job satisfaction and productivity, as well as improved retention rates.<\/p>\n

Mr Motiki said they had good working relationship with the director\u2019s office, where they made collective decisions that imparted positively on the school environment and students learning, taking into considerations teachers\u2019 perspectives and expertise.<\/p>\n

Different categories including teachers, schools, non- teaching staff and other stakeholders were awarded prizes such as certificates, trophies and cash amounting to between P1000 and P3000.<\/p>\n

There was also a director\u2019s award, for appreciation of endurance, invaluable service, dedication, selfless devotion and outstanding service to the region, which was won by Mr John Mogotsi.<\/p>\n

He was given a floating trophy sponsored by Mr Basimanyana Masire and P3 000.<\/p>\n

Mr Owen Pansire was awarded the Director\u2019s Special award for dedicated work for the Department of Primary and was given an ox, sponsored by Mr Maseko.<\/p>\n
