Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>New board members of the Malete Land Board have been implored to align the organisation\u2019s mandate with the implementation machinery of government.<\/b><\/p>\n

Based on the board members\u2019 performance during the screening process there was no doubt that they would carry out their duties with diligence to meet the new reset priorities for government.<\/p>\n

This was said by Ramotswa District Commissioner Ms Sebokwane Dikgope, November 22 at a two-day orientation workshop for newly appointed board members.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the orientation was to introduce and induct new board members on the process of land management in a way of familiarising them with the Ministry of Land and Water Affairs mandate.<\/p>\n

She said as seven of the eight newly inducted members held responsibilities in the past board they were familiar with responsibilities and duties.<\/p>\n

Ms Dikgope said there would be seamless continuity as all the members knew what was expected in the discharge of their duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cExercise caution in your duties and remember that neutrality is vital in discharging your duties. Observe the principle of confidentiality in the delivery of your responsibilities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ms Dikgope said corrupt practices were rampant because of lack of observing neutrality and confidentiality.<\/p>\n

She applauded the Malete Land Board for scoring high marks in services standards and urged them to maintain the momentum going forward.<\/p>\n

She threfore urged them to take services to the people and embraced challenges in the district including among others, limited land.<\/p>\n

Acting Malete Land Board Secretary Mr Kabelo Raletsatsi said his organisation was striving to be as prudent as it possibly could with limited resources.<\/p>\n

He said land management was a mammoth task that the new members were faced with among other difficult tasks they would undertake in future.<\/p>\n

Mr Raletsatsi said Gamalete was a small territory that posed challenges in terms of different aspects of land management among them land allocation and the high water table.<\/p>\n

He said land management administration was inundated with many challenges amongst them corruption and implored the new members to guard against any form of malpractice.<\/p>\n

The new members were inducted on the Tribal Land Act and Regulation, Land Board committees and their functions.<\/p>\n
