{"id":39574,"date":"2023-11-29T07:12:51","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T07:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/?p=39574"},"modified":"2023-11-29T06:40:01","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T06:40:01","slug":"incidents-of-missing-people-worrisome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/incidents-of-missing-people-worrisome","title":{"rendered":"INCIDENTS OF MISSING PEOPLE WORRISOME"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Incidents of missing people, which are rife in Molepolole are a concern as they hurt affected families and the society at large.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Contributing to SONA debate on Monday, Molepolole South MP, Mr Kabo Morwaeng said for a long time, such incidents had been giving people of Molepolole sleepless nights.<\/p>\n<p>He, therefore, called on the community to assist the police with any information that might shed light on the whereabouts of victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will also like to appeal to the perpetrators of such atrocities to cease this inhuman activity,\u201d he said, noting that there were rumours that missing people were often abducted for ritual purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Morwaeng, who is also the Minister for State President, also cautioned that the belief that human sacrifices could bring luck or success were unfounded.<\/p>\n<p>He however, cautioned residents to never take the law into their hands, but leave all to the police in suspected incidents of ritual murders, even though such acts he said, were no doubt heinous.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Morwaeng also urged Bakwena to make contributions for the reconstruction of the kgotla shelter, which was recently burnt to ashes by some perpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe kgotla is our pride as Bakwena, and it is important that we restore that pride and display our independence by contributing towards its reconstruction without relying on government funding,\u201d he appealed.<\/p>\n<p>On other issues, Mr Morwaeng said there were plans to construct two police stations in Molepolole, with further plans to refurbish the existing one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will bring the number of police stations in Molepolole to three, and the two new ones will come complete with staff housing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the police stations would hopefully help in the fight against crime in Molepolole and surroundings, including incidents of missing people.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Morwaeng also appreciated government\u2019s decision to construct the long awaited 28km by-pass road in Molepolole, which he said would help alleviate traffic congestion in the village. He also appreciated the planned 25km of internal roads in the village.
