Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Tlamelo Rehabilitation Centre graduands of horticulture and textile training have been equipped with starter packs to establish own businesses.<\/b><\/p>\n

The starter packs for those who studied horticulture included garden tools, seeds and shade nets while those who studied textile received domestic sewing machines, fabrics, threads and needles.<\/p>\n

The twenty nine students with disabilities completed their studies and received a trade C practical certificate from Madirelo Training and Testing Centre.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the graduation ceremony in Tlokweng November 29, Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS) secretary general, Mr Kutlwano Mukokomani said the certificates were earned through hard work, resilience and commitment during two years of their enrolment at the school.<\/p>\n

Mr Mukokomani encouraged the graduates to make use of their knowledge.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will easily integrate into our communities, help contribute to the country’s economy, and sustain their families,\u201d Mr Mukokomani said of the graduates.<\/p>\n

He appreciated and thanked the Ministry of Health, especially the autonomous body, which had been a devoted financial pillar to rehabilitation centres, including Tlamelong.<\/p>\n

He also thanked the National Disability Coordinating Office, which he said had been true custodians of issues affecting people with disability in Botswana.<\/p>\n

National Disability Coordinating Office director, Ms Peggy Garebaitse applauded BRCS’s commendable work at Tlamelong since 1974, of empowering individuals with disabilities for full integration into society.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the years, the Botswana Red Cross Society has successfully delivered on the Tlamelong initiative, which provided valuable support to persons with physical and intellectual disabilities, enabling them to attain full capacity and fostering full integration in all facets of society,\u201dshe said<\/p>\n

To graduates, she said she hoped that their achievement had given them confidence to make a profound impact as they embarked on their future endeavors.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage you to go out there and apply the skills you have acquired in your training,\u201d she said<\/p>\n

One of the graduating students, Ms Viginiah Medupe expressed gratitude to Botswana Red Cross Society and supporting key stakeholders.<\/p>\n
