Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Churches in Palapye gathered along the A1 Highway and Serowe\/Palapye road on Saturday to pray for God’s intervention in the increased road fatalities.<\/b><\/p>\n

Concerned by the rise in road deaths, Palapye police organised prayer sessions at accident hot spots in the area to ask for God’s guidance on the road.<\/p>\n

Palapye Police Station commander, Superintendent Molly Lebala-Moduke said the police have tried all means available to curb road fatalities but their efforts are not bearing fruit.<\/p>\n

He worryingly indicated that road fatalities continue to spiral out of control, claiming people\u2019s lives hence their decision to seek God’s intervention.<\/p>\n

Lebala-Moduke said they are concerned by fatal accidents that occurred at Lechana Lands in Palapye near Sahara Stones and along Palapye\/Serowe road near Morupule mine.<\/p>\n

“Daily, we mount speed traps, conduct highway patrols, and do road safety interventions to sensitise motorists on road safety, but our efforts hit a snag as we continue to lose people on the road. We have almost exhausted our efforts to curb road fatalities. We hope that seeking God’s guidance will bear fruit, especially as we approach the festive season as these accidents rise during this period,” Lebala-Moduke pointed out.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Lebala-Moduke pleaded with motorists to exercise caution on the road, obey the road signs, and avoid drunken driving, which is one of the most contributing factors.<\/p>\n
